Welcome

Message from the President

Welcome to the page Agama Islam Society, founded in 1956 and led by the late Sheikh Ahmad Bashir, is a distinguished consultative council of Islamic scholars based in Marawi City, Philippines. Formed to advance Islamic education, the society has played a pivotal role in establishing numerous madrasahs, the most notable being Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao (JMM), one of the country's oldest and largest Islamic institutions.

Founded in 1956 with financial support from the Agama Islam Society and dedicated scholars, JMM offers comprehensive Islamic education, from kindergarten to college level, across 132 branches nationwide, predominantly in Mindanao. It has remained a steadfast, non-profit institution promoting Islamic and Arabic studies. In 1987, JMM expanded its curriculum by launching its English Department to integrate modern education with traditional Islamic teachings. Recognized by the Department of Education, JMM is a League of Islamic Universities member based in Cairo, Egypt, and was voted into the Executive Council in 1999.

With a commitment to fostering peace-loving, development-oriented individuals, JMM has produced numerous notable graduates, including former ARMM Vice Governor Dr. Mahid Mutilan. The institution strives for excellence by offering programs like the Certificate of Proficiency in English Language (COPEL), ensuring students are proficient in Arabic and English language.
